Abstract:
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman released the final news on the eve of Apple’s Pro and Tell event that Apple’s first MacBook Pro equipped with an OLED touch screen will officially debut tomorrow.
This highly anticipated flagship model not only introduces touch interaction, but also sets a new starting price record. The 14-inch version is expected to start at US$2,899 (approximately RMB 20,658).

Let’s talk about pricing first. The new touch screen MacBook Pro will be the ultra-high-end model in the product line and will be sold in parallel with the existing non-touch screen version. This means that if you go after the latest hardware designs, you have to pay a very high premium.
Taking the 16-inch model as an example, its starting price is expected to be at least US$3,399 (approximately RMB 24,221), an increase of up to US$700 (approximately RMB 4,988) compared to the starting price of the M5 Pro model four months ago.
In terms of appearance and performance, this new phone uses an OLED touch screen with a smart island for the first time. The color and contrast will be greatly improved. It is equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
The entire body is made thinner and lighter, and the screen frame is also narrowed. In addition, Apple has also re-adjusted the shaft damping to prevent the body from shaking when users click on the screen
Drastic reforms have also been made in terms of heat dissipation. The new heat dissipation module reconstructs the air flow path, and air is exchanged directly through the shaft. This not only improves heat dissipation efficiency, but also helps the fuselage achieve further weight reduction.
This design is not only to cope with the extra power consumption caused by touch operations, but also to maintain the life of the OLED panel under long-term high brightness.
In addition, Gurman also exposed the story behind Apple’s decision to add a touch screen to the Mac: According to his sources, Cook decided to develop a touch-screen MacBook Pro about four years ago, in large part because users have been clamoring for this feature.
A person familiar with the matter said: "Cook thought at the time that we should do this."
