Why did Apple change its support documentation? The main reason is that the design of the new Mac Mini is different from the old model. In the new model, Apple directly welds the NAND chip to the logic board, while in the old model, Apple uses an independent solid-state drive module design. In the old model, you can directly unplug the solid-state drive module and replace it with a new one. The replacement steps are also very simple.
The new Mac Mini uses a method similar to that of the iPhone, in that the chip is soldered directly to the logic board. Therefore, when replacing or expanding the capacity, you need to use a heat gun to blow off the chip and then re-solder the new chip.
Of course, this does not affect the continued maintenance and expansion:

However, the actual expansion requires manual patching of the circuit (using resistors). After the circuit is repaired, the NAND chip can still be reballed and soldered, so normal maintenance or expansion will have no impact.
For consumers, this replacement step is very troublesome, so it is not suitable for doing it yourself (it requires a variety of tools and maintenance experience). It is still possible to seek professional repair shops, but the expansion and replacement steps are more, so the price may be higher.
