Abstract:
Apple is about to open a new live music venue, Apple Music Hall, in London, England. This will be the first time Apple has built a physical venue specifically for live music performances. The venue is located in the underground space inside the Battersea Power Station where Apple's European headquarters is located, and is scheduled to be officially opened on September 28. Apple has not yet announced the specific lineup for the opening show.

Apple Music Hall can accommodate up to 600 people and is mainly used for hosting live performances, recordings, and live video broadcasts. Apple said the venue's design focused on balancing the intimacy of live performance with professional production capabilities, allowing audiences to be as close as possible to the performers while providing artists with adequate staging and production facilities.
The venue is equipped with a stage that is approximately 38 feet and 11.6 meters wide, and can be reconfigured according to performance needs. The stage can be in the form of a traditional front stage or can be adjusted to a more wrap-around layout to accommodate different types of live performances.
The audio system is also an important part of Apple Music Hall. The venue has installed a spatial audio system consisting of 48 speakers. The speakers are distributed around the audience area to provide a more immersive spatial sound experience for live performances.
In order to meet the needs of professional video production, Apple Music Hall has reserved at least 16 camera positions and is equipped with two dedicated recording and mixing studios behind the stage. This means that the venue can not only hold live performances, but also directly undertake complete recording, mixing and video production work, without the need to transfer performance materials to other production venues.

Oliver Schusser, Vice President of Apple Music and International Content, said that Apple’s love for music can be traced back to the early days of the company. From the launch of the iPod, to the years-long iTunes Music Festival, to the birth of Apple Music, music has always been an important part of Apple’s business. He said that with the opening of Apple Music Hall, Apple hopes to further strengthen its ties with artists and music lovers, and expand Apple Music’s content ecosystem through live music.
The opening of Apple Music Hall will also coincide with Apple’s new Apple Music radio studio in Battersea. Apple has announced that all Apple Music presenters and related programs based in London will broadcast here in the future.
Zane Lowe, global creative director of Apple Music, said Apple is always looking for new ways to connect artists with fans. He believes that Apple Music Hall will become a place for musicians and listeners to create new music experiences and memories.
For Apple, the venue also marks the company's return to London's live music scene. Apple has previously held a decade-long iTunes Music Festival in the British capital, inviting well-known artists such as One Direction, Lady Gaga, Elton John and Adele to perform at smaller local music venues. However, this activity finally ended in 2017.
Battersea Power Station, where Apple Music Hall is located, also has a profound musical cultural background. This iconic Art Deco building was out of use for a long time and reopened in 2022. For music lovers, one of the most famous cultural symbols of Battersea Power Station is that it once appeared on the cover of Pink Floyd's classic album "Animals".
Therefore, Apple chose to build its first live music venue at Battersea Power Station, which also gives Apple Music Hall a special musical historical background. Apple is now continuing to expand its music service business through Apple Music, and the new venues will further extend its business from digital music playback to live performances, broadcasts, recordings, and video production.
