Abstract:
Bose officially launches the second generation of Ultra Open Earbuds open wireless headphones, and also brings a new product line Sport Open Earbuds. As the open-back headphone market has heated up rapidly in the past two years, Bose is further investing in this field, hoping to cover both daily wearers and sports people.

Ultra Open Earbuds first came out more than two years ago, and their clip-on design has become highly recognizable in the open earphone market. The second-generation product released this time continues the original design concept. It is worn and fixed by clamping the auricle, allowing sound to be directed into the ear canal, while retaining the user's ability to perceive the sounds of the surrounding environment. This means that users can still hear traffic, conversations, and surrounding environmental sounds when listening to music or podcasts, so the product is not equipped with active noise reduction.
From the appearance point of view, the new generation of Ultra Open Earbuds has not changed drastically, but the details have been re-polished. The external metal parts of the earphones adopt a new bevel polished design, making the overall visual effect more refined. In terms of color, the new products will be available in black, white smoke, cherry chocolate, olive green and sky pink.
Compared with the appearance upgrade, Bose emphasizes the improvement of sound performance this time. The company said that the new headphones use a redesigned driver unit that can provide higher volume and deeper low-frequency performance, and also has the ability to automatically adjust to suit different usage scenarios. For the needs of audio-visual entertainment, Bose has also added a Cinema Mode, which uses TrueSpatial spatial audio technology to simulate a wider and more immersive sound field effect while maintaining the clarity of vocal dialogue.
Battery life is also one of the key points of the upgrade. The battery life of the second-generation Ultra Open Earbuds on a single charge has been increased from about 7 hours of the previous generation to up to 9 hours. With the newly designed charging box, the total battery life can be further increased to approximately 19.5 hours. The new charging box can also be placed vertically and supports wireless charging for the first time.

At the same time, Bose also released new Sport Open Earbuds. This product is positioned lower than the Ultra series and is mainly targeted at running, fitness and outdoor sports users.
Sport Open Earbuds still adopt the open concept, but the structure has been adjusted. Compared with the Ultra series, its clamping part is slimmer and has a soft silicone surface to improve stability and grip in sports environments. Bose says this design helps the headphones stay secure during strenuous activities.
In order to further enhance the sports attributes, the new headphones use textured physical buttons to facilitate users to quickly complete operations by touch during exercise without the need to frequently check the position of the headphones. At the same time, the new product is IP54 dustproof and water-proof, and can handle sweat and mild rain environments.

In terms of functionality, the Sport Open Earbuds share some new technologies with the flagship model, including automatic volume adjustment and artificial intelligence-based SpeechClarity voice call enhancement. This technology can highlight the user's voice during calls, reduce environmental noise interference, and improve speech clarity.
In terms of price, the second-generation Ultra Open Earbuds are priced at US$299, while the Sport Open Earbuds are priced at US$199. The two products will be available for pre-order on September 19th and will be officially launched on October 1st.
As open-back headphones gradually become a new hot spot in the consumer electronics market, more and more manufacturers are beginning to lay out this track. On the one hand, Bose has upgraded the performance of its flagship products, and on the other hand, it has launched a new series that focuses more on sports scenes, which also shows that it hopes to further consolidate its competitive position in the open audio market. How to continuously improve sound quality, comfort and motion stability while ensuring the ability to perceive the environment is becoming the core direction of competition in this product category.
