Parking spaces turned into “camera seats” as reporters visited the robot “Athletes Village”

📅 2026-08-27

Abstract:

The Second World Humanoid Robot Games concluded tonight. After the game, the "Ice Ribbon", the main venue of the event, will be built as a permanent training base for daily use by each team. At the same time, a 3,000-square-meter special scene training base will be built in the National Speed Skating Stadium to provide a normalized training environment for enterprises and scientific research institutions. What does the permanent training base for humanoid robots look like?

The second underground floor of the National Speed Skating Arena is a parking lot, but now the parking space has been transformed into a work space, or more accurately, a machine space. The participating teams can debug, repair and temporarily store the robots here, so this is an integral part of the "Robot House" of this Games. After this sports meeting ends, will this place be restored to a parking lot? Is the "Robot House" still there?

The "Robot House" is equivalent to

the Athletes Village of the Human Games

The current "Robot House" was actually built by the National Speed Skating Hall using some idle area in the underground garage. There are 666 participating robot teams and 2,056 participating robots in this year's games, far more than the first one. This "Robot House" can be understood as the athletes' village in traditional human sports games, realizing integrated storage management of robots, including logistics, maintenance, storage, and charging.

All participating robots will receive in-game supplies or pre-game supplies here. Based on the future, the "Robot House" will definitely still be there. It was very big during the game, but it may not be that big after the game.

The "Robot House" will be expanded in the future with more complete functions

On the one hand, it will build a "robot home" or studio around the panda eyes of the speed skating hall and use the idle space in the garage around it. On the other hand, a new base No. 4 has been built in the square of the speed skating hall, supporting the previous base No. 3 and No. 5, which are all planned for the use of robots.

In the newly built No. 4 base, these functions will still be there, and they are very complete. There is a future training ground for robots, a testing ground for new robot products and new technologies, a business incubation space, a space for international exchanges and cooperation, a research space for teenagers, and an exhibition space for the public, all of which will be reflected in the new museum in the future.

According to reports, in about three years, everyone will be able to see and use Base No. 4. Currently, the new museum is already in the process of planning and project approval.
