Abstract:
iPhone Ultra will be officially launched on September 10th.
A blogger posted photos of the screen covers of the iPhone Ultra and iPhone 18 Pro series on social platforms. It can be clearly seen that the iPhone Ultra uses a single-hole screen design, which is completely different from the pill screen form that Apple has used for many years.
Since the iPhone X entered the full-screen era in 2017, Apple has always followed a completely different evolution path from the Android camp. In order to install the Face ID 3D facial recognition module, Apple has gone through many evolutions from notch screen to pill screen.
However, this iconic design that has persisted for nearly ten years is about to come to an end on Apple’s first folding screen flagship iPhone Ultra. In order to achieve the ultimate thin and light design, the thickness of iPhone Ultra is compressed to 4.5 mm on one side after unfolding.
With such a limited internal space, it is technically impossible to fit a complex set of Face ID modules into the inner and outer screens. Apple had to compromise on the precious internal space and gave up Face ID in favor of a side fingerprint recognition solution.
This is also the first high-end iPhone not equipped with Face ID since the advent of iPhone X. Due to the cancellation of the Face ID module, the iPhone Ultra also abandoned the pill screen form that Apple has insisted on for many years, and instead adopted a single-hole front-facing solution similar to the Android camp.
The front camera of the inner screen is located in the upper right corner, while the front camera of the outer screen is placed in the top center. The front shape is almost the same as the current Android flagship.
From bangs to pills to today’s single hole punch, iPhone Ultra has made unprecedented design choices for the folding screen form.It can be said that this is the iPhone with the biggest change in appearance and the most drastic change in design ideas in the past ten years.
