Abstract:
FOX News arranged a program on October 18 to discuss "GTA6" and the possible social impact of video games. The conversation extends from the crime and violence in the series to whether adult gamers should continue to play the game.

The host listed vehicle theft, shootings, sex trafficking and drug crimes in the program, worried that such descriptions would affect young people. Commentator Ben Domenech said that "Grand Theft Auto" is an important series in the field of video games, and its main players are not teenagers, but people in their 30s; the statement that "violent games will increase real-life violence" has been denied many times.

The discussion also mentioned a suspect in the 2025 shooting, but the program also stated that there were no reports that this person had played the "Grand Theft Auto" series. Participants believed that banning relevant content by the government may be unconstitutional and that it should be up to parents to judge which games are suitable for children.

Another commentator then extended the criticism to adult gamers, saying that people over 40 who still play games are not working hard enough and should look for side jobs or take part in outdoor activities such as fishing. Game*Spark believes that this discussion reflects the stereotypes against video games that still exist among conservative groups in the United States. "GTA6" is scheduled to be launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
