Huang Renxun posted a post on social platforms to congratulate OpenAI on Sunday. Previously, the company released its latest AI model, which was trained using Nvidia chips.

“From ChatGPT to o1 to Astra in 4 years,” Huang wrote, “AGI has arrived. Congratulations to the @OpenAI team.”

OpenAI released the Astra model last week, calling it the world's "smartest, most aligned model" capable of "complete the most demanding professional jobs with unparalleled speed, accuracy and judgment." Company president Greg Brockman told reporters on a conference call after the model was released that welcome to the "AGI era."

The definition of AGI is still vague

AGI is a "vague concept" but has become a key goal for companies such as OpenAI. Google defines it as "a hypothetical machine intelligence with the ability to understand or learn any intellectual task that a human can perform." There are obvious differences in timetables in the industry

AI pioneer Andrew Ng said earlier this year that the industry is still decades away from AGI. He defines AGI as artificial intelligence capable of performing any human intellectual task, such as learning to drive a truck or write a doctoral thesis.

Tesla CEO Musk gave another prediction in March, believing that AGI may be led by Tesla's Optimus robot.
