Abstract:
Huawei's official website updates the software platform to stop technical support announcement.
EOS of HarmonyOS 1.0 officially takes effect on September 14, and software upgrade and version update services will no longer be provided. Many people are not impressed by Hongmeng 1.0, which was officially unveiled at the Huawei Developer Conference on August 9, 2019
, this version has never been on mobile phones, and the only mass-produced device is Huawei smart screen.
At that time, it was mainly used to verify distributed interconnection technology and realize screencasting and cross-device transfer between TVs and mobile phones. It was regarded as the starting version of Hongmeng system.

Many people mistakenly believe that Hongmeng is a mobile phone system from the beginning. In fact, this is not the case. Mobile phones will not be supported until Hongmeng 2.0 in September 2020.

According to official instructions, the suspension of technical support is for the entire software platform and does not directly scrap the equipment.
Even if regular updates are no longer pushed, Huawei may still release emergency patches if a highly harmful security vulnerability is encountered
, it depends on the actual situation. There will also be slight differences in the follow-up services for different old models. You can also see a long list of discontinued services in the announcement. Many old EMUI versions have already ended support. EMUI 1.X to EMUI 9.0.X will all cease service in March 2024; EMUI 9.1.X, EMUI 10.X, EMUI 11.0.0 and some early Hongmeng versions will also stop technical support on May 28, 2025.
I still have an old smart screen equipped with HarmonyOS 1.0. It will not receive major system version iterations in the future, and I can still watch videos and install existing applications normally for daily use.
From its release in 2019 to its discontinuation in 2026, HarmonyOS 1.0 has completed its 7-year life cycle. After it completed technical verification, subsequent iterations were handed over to Hongmeng 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, until the current 7.0, and continued to expand mobile phones, tablets, cars, and IoT devices.
