Abstract:
Madhumitha, an Internet celebrity from Tamil Nadu, India, has been posting about her gold jewelry, cash and even her monthly gold purchases online for a long time. However, thieves recently used the pictures to steal her, and about 944 grams of gold and property worth nearly tens of millions of rupees were looted from her home.
Madhumita is a well-known Internet celebrity in the Kanyakumari region of Tamil Nadu. She often shows her luxurious life on short video platforms. She frequently posts videos showing off large sums of cash and gold jewelry, and even openly talks about the amount of gold she buys every month, and has also been filmed throwing money to her children. He has been updating his itinerary and property storage information on Instagram for a long time, including shooting show-off videos at the temple. These contents have become the "commitment guide" for thieves
On a Thursday night in September 2026, Madumita and his wife took their children out for shopping. When they returned home, they found that the bedroom wardrobe had been pried open. The thieves used a machine cutter to cut off the door lock and gain entry into the house. The thief's technique was sophisticated and he had obviously checked the location beforehand. The stolen items included 118 sovereigns (approximately 944 grams) of gold jewelry, diamond jewelry and cash, with a total value of nearly 10 million rupees (approximately more than 100,000 US dollars).
The police pointed out that by watching the short video for a long time, the thief figured out the house type, surveillance location and property storage point. It was a well-planned theft.
Rachna Gujjar, a female internet celebrity in Madhya Pradesh, India, was also burglarized and ransacked because of her gold exposure, with a loss of about 800,000 to 1 million rupees. The thieves also adjusted the surveillance angle to avoid filming.
