Abstract:
According to the whistleblower "pdfu", Apple's charging optimization settings in the iOS 27 code show that iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may support a 33% higher charging rate than iPhone 17 Pro models; if Apple can maintain this higher speed throughout the charging process, the time required for a single typical fast charge is expected to be shortened by about 25%.

However, this improvement will not cover all new machines. Relevant code also shows that Apple’s first folding screen iPhone has the same charging rate as iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, and does not adopt the faster solution speculated on the new Pro model.
In addition, the news also mentioned that the charging performance of subsequent models may continue to improve: the standard iPhone 18 is believed to reach the same faster charging level as the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18e is expected to be about 69% faster than the current iPhone 17e, and the charging speed of the iPhone Air 2 may be about 27% faster than the current iPhone Air.
The report also reminds that the actual charging speed will be affected by various practical factors such as device temperature and battery capacity, so the improvement that users experience daily may be less than what the paper data shows. Apple is expected to release the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and its first foldable screen iPhone at today's "Surprise and Shine" event, while the iPhone 18e, iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 are rumored to be launched in spring 2027.
