Abstract:
MSI recently launched the MSI KATANA 15 HX C14W gaming laptop, which uses NVIDIA RTX 5070 graphics card and Intel Core i9-14900HX processor, but what is surprising is that MSI equips it with DDR4 memory. If users are willing to pay more, they can also choose the DDR5 memory version.

The memory price is too high and the allocation can only be reduced:
The Intel Core i9-14900HX processor itself supports DDR4 and DDR5 memory. When Intel was planning this product, it considered that DDR5 memory had not yet been fully rolled out so the price was higher, but unexpectedly, it got it right. Nowadays, the price of all models of memory modules is very high. OEMs can use this processor to be compatible with both DDR4 and DDR5 memory modules.
MSI KATANA 15 HX C14W uses DDR4 memory by default to reduce the final sales price, but MSI also provides DDR4 or DDR5 memory with a maximum capacity of 96GB, so if players need it, they can choose the 96GB DDR5 memory version for extra money. Of course, the price is still very amazing.
Although the price has not been announced, it is definitely not cheap:
MSI has not yet announced the price of this gaming notebook in the global market. It is currently known that MSI uses an RTX 5070 mobile graphics card with 8GB of video memory. Besides the memory differences, MSI also offers different displays, including a 1080P 144Hz refresh rate and a 1440P 165Hz refresh rate version.
The displays are all IPS screens, but they provide different resolutions and refresh rates. For users who often play games, 1080P resolution is enough, and a higher refresh rate can improve the gaming experience. But if players occasionally need to deal with things other than work or gaming, then the 1440P display may be better.
