Abstract:
In addition to updating the DLSS 5 model, Nvidia also released a new frame generation model, which will target "performance mode" and is designed to improve the game performance of RTX 50 and RTX 40 series graphics cards. Game performance can be increased by up to 35%, although the game image quality is slightly reduced.

The way Nvidia achieves this is by updating the AI model used for frame generation. Currently, two models are used in MFG (Multiple Frame Generation) and standard frame generation techniques. The first model uses game data (such as motion vectors and depth information) to understand the movement of objects between two rendered frames; the second model calculates the optical flow of elements such as UI or ray tracing special effects.
After selecting preset C in the NVIDIA App, the second AI model will be replaced by a new model that is faster and smaller. This allows an application or game to deliver higher frame rates than the original model in all frame generation, multi-frame generation, and dynamic multi-frame generation modes. Although the image quality will be slightly reduced, this mode is well worth a try for those who are looking for higher performance.
In its performance charts, Nvidia uses the RTX 5060 to compare the performance difference between the old frame generation mode and the new mode. The results are pretty good, and the model also works on RTX 50 and RTX 40 series GPUs.

To apply preset C to your game:
Download and install the latest NVIDIA application updates from the website or within the app.
Open the app, in "Settings" --> "About", check "Opt-in to access beta or experimental features"
Please wait a moment for the beta update to download and then click the on-screen message to install it.
Once installed, open the Graphics section of the new NVIDIA app beta and select games that support frame generation, multi-frame generation, or dynamic frame generation (alternatively, select Global Settings at the top of the window and apply it to all supported games in the library).
Scroll to "Driver Settings"
Click "DLSS Coverage-Model Preset"
Click "Customize"
Open the Frame Generation drop-down menu and select Preset C.
Click "Apply"
