Private driver adds Windows XP support for Pascal graphics cards such as Titan Xp

📅 2026-10-05

Abstract:

A modder named SupraGSX released the unofficial graphics card driver Forceware 382.69, trying to make some of NVIDIA's newer GeForce graphics cards work on the 32-bit version of Windows XP. The supported list includes GTX 1060, 1070, 1070 Ti, 1080, 1080 Ti and Titan Xp based on Pascal architecture, as well as some GTX 900 series and Quadro graphics cards.

However, although Titan Xp has been added to the driver installation information file, the project author made it clear that each model on the list has not been verified on the actual machine one by one, so "Titan Xp has been confirmed to run XP" is still too much.

Forceware 382.69 is based on the 368.81 driver released by NVIDIA in 2016, adding graphics card model identification information and multiple patches. The project description states that the current version has fixed the OpenGL initialization problem of the Pascal graphics card and passed Direct3D 9 and five OpenGL rendering checks on the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti; there are also GPU-Z screenshots of the GTX 1080 recognized by the Windows XP SP3 system on the social platform. The existing public testing evidence focuses on GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti, not Titan Xp itself.

In addition to graphics card compatibility, the new driver also improves DisplayPort HBR2/HBR3 link training, HDMI 2.0 recognition and high-frequency clock settings, as well as custom resolution, scaling and aspect ratio options in the NVIDIA Control Panel. The developer specifically states that adding HBR3 link support does not mean fully supporting the compression transmission, HDR or multi-stream transmission functions of DisplayPort 1.4. Models based on the GP107 core such as GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti are still experimentally supported and have not yet completed actual machine verification; mobile GPUs, GP100 and GP108 are not supported. This driver is only suitable for 32-bit Windows XP and does not support the 64-bit version of XP.

Titan Xp is NVIDIA's Pascal flagship graphics card launched in 2017, equipped with 3840 CUDA cores and 12GB GDDR5X video memory. NVIDIA has stopped providing regular GeForce driver updates for Pascal graphics cards in 2025, and plans to continue to provide security updates until 2028; this community project is not an official support recovery, but a compatibility patch for users of nostalgic games and old systems.

Social platform users claimed that the driver was generated with the help of AI "atmosphere programming", but the description and release records of the project warehouse did not confirm the use of AI tools, and TechPowerUp also regarded this statement as unconfirmed. Since it is a third-party modified driver, and different models have different levels of support, the compatibility range and stability cannot be equal to the official NVIDIA driver.
