Abstract:
Samsung Display has formulated a new business plan and expects to significantly increase the number of foldable mobile phone and iPad OLED panels supplied to Apple next year.
According to the plan, the supply target of foldable OLED panels will increase by 87.5% from 8 million units this year to 15 million units next year; the supply target of iPad OLED panels will increase from 2 million units to 9 million units.

Taken together, Samsung Display’s supply of OLED panels for Apple’s foldable devices and tablet products will increase from approximately 10 million units this year to 24 million units next year, with the total volume increasing to approximately 2.4 times.
The industry believes that Apple’s new folding screen devices and OLED iPad products will become an important source of growth for Samsung Display’s small and medium-sized OLED business.
At present,
Apple is still a key customer of Samsung Display’s small and medium-sized OLED panel business. Data from market research institutions show that demand for iPhone series OLED panels this year is expected to reach 264.7 million units, of which Samsung Display is expected to supply approximately 144 million units.
The report pointed out that Samsung Display’s iPhone OLED panel supply next year is expected to remain close to the same level, with a target of approximately 148 million units.
Compared with the demand for traditional iPhone OLED panels, folding screens and iPad OLED are regarded as new incremental markets. According to reports, Apple plans to launch its first foldable iPhone, and Samsung Display will supply it with 7.8-inch foldable OLED panels. Related panel shipments are expected to increase from 8 million units this year to 15 million units next year.
