According to Reuters, two people familiar with the matter revealed that DeepSeek and other companies will brief the United Nations Security Council this week on the risks posed by AI. Right now, world leaders are gathering in New York for the annual United Nations General Assembly.

The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss AI and international security. A few weeks ago, several AI industry leaders called for a coordinated slowdown in the development of increasingly powerful AI systems, warning that they could soon improve on their own and escape human control. The United Nations Security Council consists of 15 member states.
A person familiar with the matter said that DeepSeek and other Chinese AI companies, including Dark Side of the Moon, have been invited to speak. DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng does not plan to attend. The person familiar with the matter cautioned that relevant arrangements may still change, or even be adjusted at the last minute.
Reuters reported last week that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman planned to brief the conference. Diplomats also expect senior representatives from Anthropic to attend the meeting.
As of press time, DeepSeek and Dark Side of the Moon had not immediately responded to requests for comment.
