After several years of delay and waiting, Tesla has officially started the countdown to the mass production version of its second-generation pure electric supercar Roadster, and has scheduled the launch event to be held in Waco, Texas, on October 1. The tail trailer released along with the official slogan "Go for launch" shows for the first time the long-rumored SpaceX cold air thruster jet structure, making the previous fantasies about the vehicle's "flying" and extreme acceleration capabilities once again become the global focus.

Compared with the prototype that debuted in 2017, the production version of the Roadster has undergone a radical reshaping of its aerodynamic package and body shape. The core highlight of this release is the Cold Gas Thrusters created by Tesla and SpaceX technology. This system directly draws on the mature design of the attitude control nozzle of the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets. It stores compressed gas through an on-board ultra-high-pressure composite gas tank and releases the high-pressure gas without any chemical combustion to generate powerful instantaneous thrust.

The latest information shows that Tesla has planned a completely different product path for this car series. Among them, the standard mass-produced version for mainstream consumers will fully comply with regular road regulations. With its multi-motor four-wheel drive and high-energy-density battery system, it can maintain super supercar acceleration capabilities from 0 to 60 mph in two seconds and a range of hundreds of miles; while the much-anticipated SpaceX optional propeller version is positioned as a limited-edition extreme demonstration model. This version is expected to eliminate the rear seats to accommodate high-pressure gas tanks and pressurized pump systems. The propulsion nozzles arranged around the car body are mainly used to bring extreme linear acceleration thrust of less than 1 second, and can even spray downwards in a specific stationary parking state to achieve a short-term hovering or floating effect off the ground.
