Abstract:
GameXplain analyzed the demo screen of "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remastered" and believes that the day and night cycle of the Switch 2 version may be longer than the original version. According to their estimates, the complete cycle may be extended from the original 4 minutes to about 6 minutes.
This remastered version has previously announced the price and download capacity. GameXplain’s focus this time is the way time passes in the game: the 40th anniversary direct-to-video meeting showed a nearly 4-minute demo, but it included menus, loading screens, and areas where time did not pass in the original version. The entire video cannot be used directly to calculate the length of day and night.
GameXplain selected a scene of about 2 minutes and 48 seconds from Hyrule Plains to the town for comparison. During this time, the sky turns from noon to evening, and it is not yet night; the demo also shows that the remake will still advance time in the town, while the Nintendo 64 original will pause the time in this area. The entire daytime in the original version is about 2 minutes and 40 seconds, which became the basis for judging that the daytime in the remake is longer.
Since the picture does not show the complete process from evening to night, the specific duration cannot be determined. GameXplain estimates that the evening may last about 50 seconds; if the early morning period is close to this length, the daytime will be about 3 minutes and 53 seconds, which can be roughly calculated as 4 minutes. Based on the fact that night is about half of daytime, the complete day and night cycle is about 6 minutes, which is about 2 minutes longer than the original version.
GameXplain believes that this is still a more conservative estimate; judging from the movement of the sun and moon in the demonstration, the cycle may also reach 7 to 8 minutes. In the original version, time is paused in many areas, and time in the fishing pool passes at one-tenth of the normal speed. Whether the remastered version will also adjust the flow rate in some areas cannot be determined based on the existing pictures alone.
"The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remastered" is scheduled to be launched on November 5, 2026. The matching theme console and Pro controller are planned to be launched on October 29, and two other amiibo are scheduled for 2027.
