The rumored new "StarCraft" game is finally here. In the past few years, various rumors have continued. On the eve of BlizzCon, the update on the official website of "StarCraft" also gave us a vague feeling that the series will launch a new game. At the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2026, the project was finally officially confirmed.
This is an open-world shooting game, helmed by former "Far Cry" series leader Dan Hay, with assistant director AnaLee Haertling, and will be released in 2030. That's right, it's 2030.

One of the first questions I asked them was whether it was appropriate to announce the new StarCraft game now, given that it's still in the early stages of development. “We’ve been working on this for a while, and we’re so proud and excited about it that we felt compelled to share it with you, and our hearts are always with the community. So we asked ourselves: ‘Is now the time to start showing the beginnings of this story?’ The answer is yes.”
Many StarCraft players, and even some die-hard fans, are unhappy with the game's announcement date, which is a full four years away from release. There is still such a long time before the release, and it is inevitable that various obstacles will be encountered during the game development process, resulting in the release date not being announced on time. But in Hay's view, announcing the release date so early just proves the team's determination to complete the work on time.
"It shows that we're serious. It proves to everyone that that's a date that we're very confident about," Hay added, pointing dramatically to a nearby wall for emphasis. "What I love about this team is that we put that number on the wall. And then someone asks, 'When is this going to be available?'"
