The original Apple TV 4K is classified as a "retro product" by Apple, and official repairs may still depend on the supply of parts.

Abstract:

Apple has included the first-generation Apple TV 4K, launched in 2017, on its "retro product" list. Apple's official support page shows that the model number is A1842 and the product name is labeled "Apple TV 4K (2017)"; Apple's retro product list was updated on October 9 to confirm that its global status has been adjusted.

Apple classifies products that have been discontinued for more than 5 years but less than 7 years as retro products. This status does not mean that the device will stop working immediately, nor does it mean that Apple will immediately terminate repairs: Apple and authorized service providers will usually provide maintenance and parts services for at least 5 years after the cessation of sales. In some areas, it can be extended to 7 years, but it is subject to parts supply and other conditions. Products that are more than 7 years old are usually classified as obsolete. Apple stops hardware repair services and service providers cannot order parts. Therefore, the repair options for the first-generation Apple TV 4K may gradually decrease. Details still need to be confirmed with local Apple service channels.

This set-top box was released in September 2017. It is equipped with the A10X Fusion chip and is available in 32GB and 64GB capacities. It supports 4K video output up to 2160p, Dolby Vision and HDR10, and is equipped with HDMI 2.0a, Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0; it comes with the first-generation Siri Remote and uses a glass touch surface. The US starting prices announced by Apple that year were US$179 and US$199 respectively.

This change in the list comes at a time when the news that Apple is preparing to launch a new round of smart home products has attracted attention, and the outside world has also speculated that the Apple TV product line may usher in an update. However, the retro category itself does not represent a new product launch, and Apple has not officially confirmed that it will launch a new Apple TV at a recent event.
