Abstract:
Apple on Monday updated a support document for lossless audio on Apple Music, with a new note in the Apple TV 4K section stating that Hi-Res Lossless is only applicable to "third-generation or newer models." Since the Apple TV 4K currently on sale is still the third generation, this statement triggered speculation that the new model is about to be released. However, it is also possible that Apple is simply updating the instructions for future models in advance, or there is a wording error in the document.
This clue has further boosted outside expectations for the new Apple TV 4K. The market expects Apple to release new products in October this year. Information emerged last week that Apple may be preparing to launch the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K.
Rumors say that the new device may be equipped with an A19 or A19 Pro chip, increase the memory from the existing 4GB to 8GB or 12GB, and support Apple Intelligence and the new version of Siri artificial intelligence functions. Other rumored configurations include Apple’s self-developed N1 chip, Wi-Fi 7 and a revised Siri Remote. Pictures of the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K exposed last week showed that its design may not change compared with the current model.
The current Apple TV was released in October 2022, nearly four years ago, and is equipped with an A15 Bionic chip and 4GB of memory. In June this year, affected by the rising cost of memory chips, Apple increased the price of Apple TV; taking the US market as an example, the starting price has risen from US$129 to US$199.
