On September 30, according to the Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Trump had lunch with about 24 technology company CEOs and industry leaders on Tuesday, including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who had previously been at odds with him.

Trump previously clashed with Amodei over the use of Anthropic AI models in the military. Despite growing calls from Silicon Valley and the public for new AI safety mechanisms, Trump has repeatedly reiterated his loose regulatory policies, a move that has also been criticized by Amodei. Amodei has issued a document warning that AI may pose serious risks to humanity and calling for a slowdown in development.
However, the relationship between the two has recently shown signs of thawing. Last Sunday, Trump held his first face-to-face meeting with Amodei.
On Tuesday, Amodei attended another White House luncheon. A day earlier, he met with Senate Majority Leader John Thune at the Capitol. Thune and Sen. Amy Klobuchar are pushing a bill aimed at preventing catastrophic harm from AI.
"If we do this right, if we work with the president and everyone here, we can succeed while staying safe," Amodei said on Tuesday.
Trump changed his previous attitude towards Amodei and praised him as "excellent".
In addition, he also praised Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang as "a handsome guy" and Google CEO Sundar Pichai as "a powerful person."
