Abstract:
The main color of this year’s iPhone 18 Pro series is burgundy, replacing the Xingyu Orange of the previous generation. This color attracted attention as soon as it was launched.
However, some users reported on social platforms that the iPhone 18 Pro has a fading problem. The versions involved include burgundy red and black, with the burgundy red version being more obvious.

According to the pictures posted by netizens, the color near the lens of the burgundy iPhone 18 Pro has become lighter. A similar situation exists on the black version. Apple has not yet responded to this. Some netizens suggested that you can wear a protective case when using it outdoors to reduce the chance of the phone being directly exposed to light.

It is worth mentioning that the previous generation iPhone 17 Pro series also had fading problems. The main thing affected at that time was the Xingyu orange color scheme, and the original orange gradually turned into pink. Relevant cases focus on specific batches, not all models. Affected users stated that they wore protective cases during daily use and did not use chemical cleaners such as alcohol to wipe the fuselage.
The industry pointed out that the iPhone 17 Pro uses aviation aluminum alloy instead and relies on the anodizing process for color. There are micropores in the anodized film, and sealing is required during production to lock in the dye.
The root cause of fading is that the sealing process of some products is not in place, resulting in the micropores not being completely sealed. When human body oil and sweat penetrate into the oxide film, they will destroy the dye structure and eventually cause discoloration.
This generation of iPhone 18 Pro still continues the aluminum alloy and glass material design of the previous generation. The fading may be related to the coloring process. Currently, there are still a small number of affected users, and related problems may be concentrated in individual batches. The follow-up situation remains to be seen.
