Abstract:
According to technology website Not a Tesla App, a set of robot renderings in Tesla's Android App were recently discovered, suspected to show the appearance of the third-generation humanoid robot Optimus Gen 3. Compared with the previous version, the new design covers more of the exposed mechanical structure, and the body outline is also more compact.
The report stated that the relevant pictures were originally discovered and shared by Tesla enthusiast @WholeMars from the recently updated Android App. The original post has since been deleted, but the image has been retweeted by the account @TeslaNewswire. The website states that these files are graphic resources for the App interface used to display robots on mobile phones.

From a comparison of the renderings, the mechanical structures of the Gen 2.5 prototype's hips and calves are relatively exposed, while the Gen 3 adds flexible joint shields at the connection between the torso and thighs. Not a Tesla App believes that this type of design helps to cover possible pinch areas and reduces external dust and debris from contacting the bearings.
The appearance color scheme has also changed. The eye-catching golden metal panels on the knees and calves of the Gen 2.5 are replaced by matte black shells in the Gen 3 renderings, forming a two-color match with the champagne gold panels in other parts of the fuselage. The visual effects of the arms, hands and overall shell are more complete. The website believes this makes the robot look closer to a consumer-oriented hardware product.
Hand capabilities are another upgrade that's getting some attention. The report quoted Tesla’s previous introduction as saying that Optimus Gen 3’s hands have
22 degrees of freedom
. However, the rendering itself cannot verify its hand performance, nor is it sufficient to confirm the technical parameters of the final production version. In terms of release progress, reports indicate that Tesla had previously postponed the public debut of Optimus Gen 3. Musk said this spring that some finishing adjustments needed to be completed before the robot could take the stage. Not a Tesla App estimates that its independent demonstration event may be scheduled
at the end of this year or early next year
, this time judgment is not Tesla’s official announcement.Preparations for mass production are also advancing. According to the website, Tesla began to renovate the original Model S and Model . The company also plans to expand the annual production capacity of Optimus at the Texas Gigafactory to
10 million units
in the future . These figures are capacity targets and do not represent actual production. The exposure of App pictures provides new clues to the appearance and mobile display functions of the third-generation Optimus. However, the emergence of related graphic resources still cannot alone prove that the final hardware design has been finalized, or that the mobile robot monitoring function is ready for use.
