Abstract:
The arrival of Tesla’s robot team in Ningbo to audit the factory has received widespread attention from the capital market. On September 21, reporters from The Paper learned from industry chain sources that the Tesla robot team had started factory audits at supply chain companies such as Tuopu Group (601689), Sanhua Intelligent Control (002050), and Joyson Electronics (600699) last week. The above-mentioned companies mainly supply core electromechanical components such as joint modules, actuators, and precision structural parts.

"Before this factory review, these companies have already received orders for Tesla's humanoid robots, with just more or less differences. The factory review will evaluate the quality and compliance of relevant production lines, and production will begin soon after passing the review," the person mentioned above mentioned.
The industry chain person also said that the factory audit work is not only carried out in Ningbo as reported online. The Tesla robot team's visit this time also covered supply chain companies in the Yangtze River Delta region such as Hangzhou and Shanghai. Relevant companies are basically supply chain companies that Tesla has already cooperated with in automobiles.
Previously, it was reported that Tesla plans to produce thousands of humanoid robots this year. The start of the supply chain factory audit means that Tesla's humanoid robot mass production work has taken a step further.
What is about to start mass production is Tesla’s third-generation humanoid robot, which is also its first model for mass production. Compared with the previous generation, it focuses on upgrading the hand dexterity mechanism and joint actuators, and prioritizes industrial tasks such as material handling in the factory and simple assembly line assistance. The long-term target cost of a single machine is US$20,000-30,000.
In terms of production capacity, Tesla’s original Model S/X production line has been transformed into a dedicated production line for Tesla humanoid robots, with a planned annual production capacity of 1 million units. At the same time, Tesla is preparing the second production line of robots at the Texas Gigafactory. Its long-term design annual production capacity is 10 million units and is expected to be put into production around next summer.
Musk called the mass production of humanoid robots "the most difficult product in Tesla's history."
In fact, many companies in Tesla's automotive supply chain have been laying out the robot track for many years. Public information shows that Tuopu Group's joint actuators and dexterous hands have been supplied to head humanoid robot companies such as Zhiyuan Robot and Yushu Technology; Joyson Electronics focuses on robot domain controllers, etc., with outstanding automotive-grade software and hardware integration capabilities, and has supplied to Zhiyuan, Galaxy General, etc.; Sanhua Intelligent Control relies on its thermal management advantages to develop integrated joint modules to solve the pain point of temperature rise in high-power joints. Its customers include Yushu Technology and Youbi.
