Abstract:
Due to the delay of Siri AI function, Apple was previously sued by users in the United States. Now the lawsuit has made the latest progress. At present, the Apple Siri AI class action settlement website has been officially launched, and eligible US iPhone users can submit compensation applications.
In May this year,
Apple agreed to pay US$250 million (approximately RMB 1.6 billion) to resolve this class action lawsuit.
However, Apple did not admit the relevant allegations in the lawsuit and stated that it chose to settle mainly to avoid the costs and risks of continuing the lawsuit.
According to the settlement plan,
Eligible users are expected to receive US$25 in compensation for each iPhone. The final amount will be adjusted based on factors such as the number of valid applications, up to a maximum of US$95.
It should be noted that not all iPhone users can receive this compensation.
Applicants need to live in the United States and have purchased an eligible iPhone in the United States between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025,
The purchase purpose cannot be for resale.

The compensation application period is from September 21 to December 21, 2026.
It is understood that this lawsuit dates back to Apple’s 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference.
At that time, Apple announced that it would conduct a major AI upgrade to Siri and demonstrated a series of new capabilities such as understanding users' personal information, identifying screen content, and calling apps to complete operations. It also stated that some features would be gradually launched with the new iPhone later.
Since then,
Apple has also promoted the new version of Siri on its official website and advertisements, and made related AI capabilities one of the important selling points of the iPhone 16 series.
However, after the iPhone 16 series was launched, some of the core Siri AI functions previously demonstrated were not launched as scheduled.
The plaintiff therefore believed that Apple promoted the relevant functions in advance before they were officially launched, which was suspected of false publicity and unfair competition, and filed a class action lawsuit accordingly.
As for when eligible users can actually receive compensation, they are still waiting for the court's final approval.
The final approval hearing of the case is scheduled to be held on February 24, 2027, so the relevant compensation is not expected to be paid out until 2027 at the earliest.
