Tech executives including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg are expected to attend a lunch with President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai will also attend the lunch, the company confirmed on Monday; Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang will also attend. OpenAI President Greg Brockman will also be in attendance.
Trump, Vice President Vance and other administration officials will host an all-day event on Tuesday to announce a new website providing federal information and resources, according to a White House official. The event will feature panel discussions around artificial intelligence, energy, space and other topics.
Anthropic co-founder and chief computing officer Tom Brown will also attend the event, according to a person familiar with the plans.
Amodei had a private dinner with Trump last Sunday.
Tuesday's meeting could provide another opportunity for tech leaders, especially Amodei, to ease tensions with the White House as the debate over AI safety has spread and leaders have chosen sides over potential regulation. A former Anthropic researcher has sparked an outcry after accusing the cutting-edge AI lab of “gamble[ing] with our lives.”
After Amodei wrote an article calling on companies to "slow down the pace" of advanced AI, industry leaders such as OpenAI chief Altman and Musk echoed the call for an industry-wide slowdown. Trump, on the other hand, has openly resisted, calling AI fears a "hoax" and a "trick" in recent weeks.
