According to CCTV News,Today (February 7) China’s fifth Antarctic research station “Qinling Station” officially opened.Can withstand ultra-low temperatures of minus 60 degrees Celsius. According to reports, the Qinling Station is located in the Ross Sea area of Antarctica.It fills the gaps in China’s investigation in this region.
The design concept of the main body of Qinling Station is derived from the Southern Cross navigation used by Zheng He on his voyages to the West. It has a construction area of 5,244 square meters and can accommodate 80 summer expedition personnel and 30 winter expedition personnel.
It also uses lightweight and high-strength construction technology and materials.It can resist ultra-low temperatures of minus 60 degrees Celsius and strong corrosion in coastal environments.
The name of the Qinling Station comes from the watershed between the north and the south of China. It is named after the Qinling Mountains, the ancestral line of the Chinese nation. It is a spiritual symbol that continues to inherit the memory of Chinese history and culture.
It is understood thatQinling Station is my country’s fifth scientific research station in Antarctica after the Great Wall Station, Zhongshan Station, Kunlun Station and Taishan Station.It is also the first perennial scientific research station established in my country in the new era.
