Can you imagine knowing the risk of developing dementia from just a drop of blood? Through plasma protein detection, humans can predict the risk of dementia 15 years in advance. In the near future, people will be able to know in advance their chances of developing dementia from their blood test reports.

The team of Professor Feng Jianfeng and Researcher Cheng Wei from the Institute of Brain-inspired Intelligence Science and Technology of Fudan University and the team of Professor Yu Jintai from Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University launched a joint research project. They used large-scale proteomics data and artificial intelligence algorithms to discover important plasma biomarkers for predicting future dementia risk. The team can predict the risk of dementia 15 years in advance and is of great significance for the screening and early intervention of people at high risk of dementia.

In the early morning of February 13, 2024, Beijing time, this research result was published in Nature Aging under the title "Plasma proteomic profiles predict future dementia risk in healthy adults" (Plasma proteomic profiles predict future dementia risk in healthy adults).
