According to reports, Tesla is increasing orders for DojoD1 supercomputer chips. DojoD1 is a custom chip specially designed by Tesla for the Dojo supercomputer and manufactured by TSMC. According to people familiar with the matter, Tesla plans to double the production of DojoD1 chips next year to 10,000 pieces. It is expected that by 2025, the order volume of Dojo D1 chips manufactured by TSMC will continue to increase, taking into account the scalability of the Dojo supercomputer.

Tesla uses Dojo supercomputers to train artificial intelligence models for advanced driver assistance systems and fully autonomous driving systems. With the launch of projects such as FSD, self-driving taxis and Optimus robots, the Dojo supercomputer's contribution to the company's operations may become even greater.

Tesla's increased DojoD1 chip orders also help TSMC. TSMC's deal with Tesla has reportedly led to an increase in orders related to high-performance computing. Although neither Tesla nor TSMC commented on the matter, the industry has publicly known about the business relationship between the two companies.

With the addition of the Dojo supercomputer, Tesla may be able to reduce its reliance on Nvidia's GPU chip products. Tesla has always been an important customer of Nvidia. It is reported that Tesla recently launched a new supercomputer equipped with 10,000 Nvidia H100 GPU chips. The system, which costs about $300 million, will be used for a variety of artificial intelligence applications.

The official Tesla Artificial Intelligence account published a series of posts about the Dojo supercomputer on social media X, showing its ambitious goals. Tesla said that the Dojo supercomputer will begin production in July 2022, and it expects its computing power to be among the top five in the world by January 2024. By October 2024, Tesla expects the Dojo supercomputer to have 100 Exa-flop computing power.
