According to news on September 27, a German Volkswagen spokesperson said on Tuesday local time that due to weak market demand, the company will temporarily reduce the production of two electric vehicles. The company plans to suspend production of ID.3 and CupraBorn electric vehicles at its Zwickau and Dresden plants in Germany during the first two weeks of October, a spokesman said.

Among them, Volkswagen's Zwickau plant will reduce electric vehicle production during the Saxony autumn holidays from October 2 to October 13. The factory in Dresden will suspend production of ID.3 electric vehicles from October 2 and resume production from October 16.

Volkswagen declined to comment on the number of employees affected. Earlier this month the company said it would not extend the fixed-term contracts of 269 employees at its Zwickau pure electric vehicle plant.

Volkswagen is facing increasing competition from Tesla and Chinese electric carmakers, as well as European demand for electric cars that has been hit by high inflation and reduced subsidies.
