Statcounter's February 2024 report is now out, which means it's time to see how Windows 11 performs up to date. According to Statcounter's latest survey results, in February 2024, the usage rate of Windows 11 reached a record high of 28.18%, an increase of 0.35 percentage points from January 2024 and a year-on-year increase of 9.05 percentage points.
After five months of continuous decline (mainly replaced by Windows 11's market share), Windows 10's market share increased by 0.76 percentage points to 67.23% (year-on-year change -6.08 percentage points). It is still the mainstream operating system in the Windows market, and there is little hope that Windows 11 will catch up in the short term.
However, Microsoft seems ready to step up its efforts to increase Windows 11's market share by showing upgrade prompts to more Windows 10 users. The company recently announced that it would "invite" eligible unmanaged Windows 10 machines to upgrade to Windows 11 in April 2024. Still, Windows 11 remains an optional update and will likely remain so until Windows 10's inevitable demise in October 2025.

2024 is an important year for Windows 11. Manufacturers will soon start releasing new computers focused on artificial intelligence, and Microsoft is preparing to release a major Windows 11 update that includes artificial intelligence experiences. Windows 11 "2024 Update" is expected to be released in the second half of 2024. In the meantime, users can install the "Moment5" update released on February 28, 2024.
