Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the Passenger Car Association, wrote an article analyzing the national charging pile market situation in the first eight months of 2023. He said that China has built the world's largest charging infrastructure system with the widest service range and the most complete types.According to the current calculation of 1 public pile = 3 private piles, the vehicle-to-pile ratio of pure electric vehicles in China's incremental market in 2023 is already 1:1, which is definitely several times ahead of other countries in the world.

According to analysis by an international research company report,The vehicle-to-pile ratio of public charging piles in China in the second half of 2022 is 7:1, in the Americas it is 14.6:1, and in Europe it is 17.6:1, and the comparison of stranded public charging piles, China is 16.7:1, the world is 105:1, Europe is 120:1, and the Americas is 66:1.(ps. The lower the ratio, the higher the supply adequacy)

Due to the surge in sales of pure electric passenger vehicles in China in 2022, the vehicle-to-pile ratio of China's two charging piles has increased in the second half of 2022, which shows that the expansion rate of China's public energy replenishment infrastructure has failed to match the rapid growth of its electric vehicle sales and car ownership. The vehicle-to-pile ratio has improved in Europe and the Americas, but still lags significantly behind China.

As of August 2023, China has 2.27 million public piles and 4.94 million private piles. From January to August 2023, the number of public piles increased by 470,000, and the number of private vehicle piles increased by 1.52 million compared with the end of 2022. The charging capacity of public piles is 1.1 billion kWh. The average charging capacity of public piles from January to August is 493 kWh, with a monthly average of 62 kWh.

Charging piles are subdivided into two categories: DC piles (fast charging) and AC piles (slow charging). DC charging piles are larger in size, have the characteristics of high voltage, high power and fast charging, and have higher requirements on the power grid. They are usually built in highway service areas, buses and other places, so their number is small. The global share is around 20%. However, the proportion of DC charging piles in China is as high as over 40%., also shows that China is in a leading position in the promotion of DC charging piles.

China's DC charging density will increase by 22.9% in 2022, reaching 14.4 DC charging piles per 100 kilometers of roads.
