Admittedly, Google's status as a search engine is rarely challenged. It doesn't matter what device you have, you can all find the same search engine. However, earlier this year, we started hearing that Samsung might be ditching Google in favor of Microsoft's Bing search engine, simply because it also offers AI capabilities.

While Samsung isn't switching to Bing just yet, a new report suggests that the company is trying to make it easier for all Galaxy users to change their default search engine when using Samsung's internet browser. However, Google quickly stepped in to prevent this from happening.

Simply put, if the Korean tech company did do this, it would violate the agreement between the two companies, require Samsung to pay a hefty fine, and potentially lead to a legal battle. Therefore, it would be wise to abandon this move, especially considering that the two companies have had a good relationship for some time.

The trial revealed how Google used its market position to block competition and used various tactics to ensure it remained the default search engine on all major smartphones, including those from Apple, Samsung and countless others. The U.S. Department of Justice claims that what the search engine giant is doing is illegal, and that could soon change.

This isn't the first time we've seen something like this, but it's hard to imagine Google and Samsung colliding. Of course, this isn't the first time the two companies have been on opposite sides, but that happened in the past, and both companies have ensured close cooperation over the past few years.

We don't yet know how this trial will turn out, but one thing is clear: Samsung needs Google, and vice versa.
