Apple claims that as a result of its continued investment, 550,000 jobs have been created in the UK, ranging from office and retail staff to suppliers and developers. Apple recently began expanding Apple Pay functionality in the UK and has recently lobbied local governments against unenforceable goals that weaken privacy rights. Now, including the nearly 8,000 people it directly employs in the UK, Apple says it supports more than 550,000 UK jobs, according to company calculations.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement: "For more than four decades, Apple has been proud to be part of the British community. Whether it's enriching the lives of customers, helping to support incredible developers, working closely with suppliers, or opening a stunning new British headquarters, we are deeply committed to creating jobs and creativity across the UK."

The stunning new UK headquarters is located in the recently "redesigned" Battersea Power Station. In addition to the Apple Battersea store, which is due to open in June 2023, the complex also houses Apple's UK headquarters.

Apple also said it has corporate offices in St. Albans and Swindon, as well as a new office in Cambridge, with hundreds of employees working on artificial intelligence.

The company also counts its investment in AppleTV+ production - shows such as "Slow Horse" are produced in the UK. Apple said its investments in the UK have totaled nearly $20 billion over the past five years, involving hundreds of companies.
