Britain's antitrust regulator said on Friday it was reviewing whether Qualcomm's acquisition of Israeli car chipmaker Autotalks would lessen competition in the British market. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has invited comments on the deal, which was announced in May.
Qualcomm has said it will acquire Autotalks, a chip maker used in car collision avoidance technology, but did not disclose the terms of the deal.
Autotalks, which produces specialized chips in the field of V2X communication technology for manned and driverless vehicles, will help Qualcomm expand its automotive business.
Last month, EU regulators said the U.S. chipmaker must seek antitrust approval for the planned acquisition, while Politico reported that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) was expected to launch an in-depth investigation into the deal.
