Social media giant MetaPlatforms (META.O) said on Wednesday it has begun rolling out generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools that can create content such as image backgrounds and written text variations for all advertisers, Reuters reported. The company began testing the tools in May, giving a select group of advertisers access to test venues. The tools will be available in Meta's Ads Manager and will be rolled out next year.
The launch marks the Facebook and Instagram owner's first attempt to bundle generative artificial intelligence technology into its products to mine vast troves of past data to generate new content such as prose, art and software code.
Last week, the company said businesses will soon be able to use artificial intelligence for business messaging on Messenger and WhatsApp to engage with customers.
Meta's artificial intelligence portfolio includes its language model "Llama2" and an artificial intelligence chatbot called MetaAI that can generate text responses and lifelike images.
