Microsoft recently revamped its Store website to align it with the design principles of Windows 11 and the Fluent Design system. It will be interesting to watch the implementation of these changes. The design of the Microsoft Store website is now identical to the Microsoft Store app on Windows 11, incorporating elements such as Acrylic, Reveal, Depth, and Motion to create a cohesive user experience.
The updated Microsoft Store design uses a card-style layout for displaying app lists, recommendations, and category lists, making it more visually appealing and organized. In addition, the application classification options and side menu bar that previously appeared on the left side of the website have also been cancelled. Instead, the search box is now located at the top right of the page, along with a button to open the Microsoft Store app.
The "Categories" option at the bottom of the page has been replaced by "Collections," which includes a variety of Windows themes, puzzle games, and other content for users to explore. The top section of the webpage allows users to easily switch between home, application and game pages and provides a search bar for quick navigation.
There are some differences in the design of the website installation page and the app. On the website, the install button is at the top, next to the app's logo, while in Microsoft Store apps, the app's logo, installation options, and ratings are all on the left side of the page.
Microsoft's efforts to improve user experience across the entire ecosystem, including Windows 11 and the Microsoft App Store, are a positive development, and the changes appear to be aimed at simplifying the process of discovering and installing apps and content for users.
