According to news on October 8, Liang Jianzhang, chairman of the board of directors of Ctrip Group, and Dai Bin, president of the China Tourism Academy, jointly released the "Recommendations on Optimizing School Holidays and Unifying the Launch of "Spring Break"", saying that the hot travel market during this year's Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day and summer vacation holidays demonstrated the strong trend of tourism recovery. A series of problems caused by the concentrated outbreak of holiday travel demand have also triggered thoughts on further optimizing student holidays.
During the National Day holiday, domestic travel orders nearly tripled compared to 2022.Family travel has become the main consumer, with domestic family group tours accounting for 46%, and outbound family family registration orders accounting for 52%.
The phenomenon of "higher prices and higher volumes" in holiday travel has a strong role in promoting consumption and stimulating the economy. On the other hand, the concentrated explosion of demand for parent-child travel has also brought about many unavoidable problems such as contradictions between supply and demand, soaring prices, and safety. There are not many time periods to choose from throughout the year for family trips lasting more than a week, which is also an important reason why travel demand explodes in the summer.
Liang Jianzhang and Dai Bin suggested that these problems should be alleviated by rationally optimizing student holidays and launching a unified "spring break".
Liang Jianzhang and Dai Bin suggested:
First, it is recommended to implement a unified spring break system for students. Study and consider formulating a unified spring break for schools across the country in conjunction with the May Day holiday.About a week can be allocated from summer vacation or winter vacation, and about a week of spring break can be arranged for students before and after the May Day holiday.Depending on the implementation of the spring break system, we will gradually consider implementing the autumn break system.
Second, it is suggested that the state should consider unified arrangements for spring break at staggered times based on local conditions. In addition, colleges and universities can appropriately extend the spring break to two weeks based on actual conditions.
The third is to promote the integration of paid leave and welfare tourism in the system. Encourage more parents to choose their own vacation time according to their work arrangements, so as to complement students' spring break and avoid taking vacations concentrated in winter vacation and summer vacation.
