Today (October 13), the British CMA has approved Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The CMA said in a public statement: "With the rapid growth of the cloud gaming market, the new agreement reached by the CMA and Microsoft will prevent Microsoft from monopolizing the cloud gaming market, thereby retaining competitive prices and services for British cloud gaming users."

Current Microsoft President and Chief Legal Officer Brad Smith tweeted: "We thank the CMA for today's thorough investigation and decision. We have now crossed the final regulatory hurdle and completed this acquisition, which we believe will benefit players and the gaming industry around the world."

Activision Blizzard President Bobby Kotick said in a letter to employees today: "Today, the UK regulator CMA approved our transaction with Microsoft. We have now received all regulatory approvals required to complete the transaction, and we look forward to bringing joy and connection to even more gamers around the world.
