Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wrote that compared with Snapdragon 8 Gen3, shipments of Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition will increase by 50% in the second half of this year, reaching 9 million units.The unit price has increased by 15%, with one chip priced at approximately US$180 (approximately RMB 1,280).Ming-Chi Kuo said that among Qualcomm’s SOCs,The unit price and profit of the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition are the highest, so the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition will significantly increase Qualcomm's Q4 revenue in 2024.

Supply chain and mobile phone manufacturer personnel have previously said that the wave of domestic flagships in Q4 this year will see a price increase.

In addition to the sharp increase in the price of the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition chip mentioned earlier, the prices of core components such as memory, screen, and battery are also facing increases to varying degrees.

Among them, memory procurement costs will nearly double in 2024, and the price increase will exceed the price increase of gold in the same period. Affected by this, flagship mobile phones to be released in October this year will experience collective price increases.

It is worth noting that Ming-Chi Kuo also mentioned in the report that one of the reasons for the surge in shipments of Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition is that the time is earlier than that of Snapdragon 8 Gen3, and the second reason is that Samsung’s order demand for Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition has surged.

In addition, shipments of domestic high-end smartphones are returning to growth, and the market share of domestic high-end models (priced above 4,000 yuan) is expected to increase from 25%-30% in 2023 to 30%-35% in 2024.

Smartphone shipments in the Chinese market are expected to grow by about 3% in 2024, reaching 280 million units, and will continue to grow in 2025.
