Survey shows more than 50 people apply for every job at Apple every day

Apple jobs are the most sought-after in the U.S., rivaled only by Netflix, Amazon and Microsoft in attracting job seekers. Apple's Tim Cook has said the company is "very cautious in hiring" because it has largely avoided the large-scale layoffs that other technology companies have repeatedly seen. The company is still hiring, though, and a new report says it has been among the companies attracting the most job applicants.

Resume.io uses LinkedIn's tools to show how many people have applied for a job. "Sure, it can be frustrating to see a flood of applicants for a job that was posted just two days ago, but this feature can also paint a clear picture of which companies are the most competitive and which are less popular," Resume.io said in a blog post.

Overall, big tech companies are the top choice for U.S. job seekers, with Apple attracting an average of 53.7 job applications per day.

Netflix tops the list with an average of 84.87 applications per day, followed by Amazon with an average of 73.25 people applying every day; followed by Apple is Microsoft with an average of 57.9 people applying every day.

Large technology companies occupy the top seven spots, along with Meta, Oracle and Tesla. Alphabet and IBM ranked 18th and 19th respectively, with the remaining top 20 companies spread across the banking and retail industries.

"Intel (12.07 applicants) trailed far behind Apple (53.74 applicants) and Oracle (49.22 applicants) as the least competitive Big Tech company," the report said. "The chipmaker is reportedly struggling to fill key positions due to a shortage of skilled labor."

The survey concluded that "restaurant chains Zaxby's and Applebee's are the least competitive U.S. companies for applicants, with each company receiving an average of only 0.01 applicants per day for their job postings."

Of course, LinkedIn isn't the only place for job seekers, so that only speaks volumes. However, Apple did lay off 100 of its own recruiters in 2022, which means fewer workers will be poached by headhunters rather than apply directly.
