American animation director complains about "Battle of Two Cities": The cost of two seasons is enough for me to make 25 seasons

You may have heard that the production cost of two seasons of "League of Legends: Battle of Two Cities" was as high as $250 million, and one anime creator claimed that the production cost of just one season of this "League of Legends" spin-off series was enough to produce 25 seasons of his own work.

Thomas Astuk, the creator and director of "Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir," tweeted: "One season of 'League of Legends: Battle of Two Cities' costs enough to produce 25 seasons of 'Miraculous Girls.'"

One fan asked: "If you were given a budget like League of Legends: Battle of Two Cities and no restrictions on the content of the script, what would you do?" Astuk's reply seemed to be a reference to the overall length of League of Legends: Battle of Two Cities. He wrote: "You have to do the best you can with the given conditions. With a budget of $250 million, 'Wonder Girls' might have looked very different. But even so, I don't think I would have done just two seasons. Somehow, throwing so much money at so few episodes made me feel uneasy."

The producers of League of Legends: Battle of Two Cities have explained why they decided not to continue production after Season 2. Some members of the team have been working on this for nine years and it's time to move on to new projects.

Astuk also shed some light on the animation industry. He explained: "Miracles has a high budget compared to Japanese anime series; it has a high budget compared to French anime series; but it's low budget compared to American anime series. And obviously any American anime series has a pitifully low budget compared to League of Legends: Battle of Two Cities."

One person replied that the difference is passion and quality, but Astuk echoed that. He said: "All animation workers are passionate and want to produce high-quality work. The only difference is the time given to them and the amount of work. These two factors are determined by the budget."

Producer Alex Yi shares this view. He said: "We want artists to have time to really develop their talents, so that professionals in different fields can do their best and show their ability in this work. In many ways, the funding is just a reflection of the effort put into this work."
