Netflix took advantage of the popularity of the Korean drama "Squidward" and filmed a reality show called "Squidward: The Challenge." Several contestants are currently claiming to have been injured during the filming of the show and are threatening to sue Netflix and the producers.
ExpressSolicitors, a UK personal injury law firm, represented the two unnamed contestants. The agency said the contestants suffered hypothermia and nerve damage while filming in frigid British conditions.
In a press statement, the firm said it had sent a letter of claim to Studio Lambert, co-producer of Netflix's "Squidward: The Challenge."
The contestants' allegations relate to their experiences filming the show's opening game, "Stop on Red, Go on Green," in which contestants must avoid the attention of a robot doll. Filming was filmed at Cardington Studios on the former RAF base in Bedford during a cold snap in the UK. Netflix currently confirms that 3 out of 456 players require medical care.
The firm said clients were risking their health by having to remain motionless for long periods of time during the shoot in order to remain eligible.
A spokesperson for Squidward Challenge said: "No lawsuit has been filed by a Squidward contestant. We take the welfare of our contestants very seriously."
