On June 8, Bloomberg reported that people familiar with the matter said that Facebook parent company Meta was in talks to invest billions in artificial intelligence startup Scale AI. People familiar with the matter said Meta’s investment in Scale AI may exceed US$10 billion, becoming one of the largest financing events for an unlisted private company in history. At this time, the terms of the transaction have not been finalized and are still subject to change.

Scale AI's customers include Microsoft and OpenAI. The company provides data annotation services to help companies train machine learning models, and has become one of the main beneficiaries of the generative artificial intelligence boom. As of press time, Scale AI had not responded to a request for comment. Meta declined to comment.
