NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 30506GB GPU will launch in early 2024 with lower specs than the 8GB model it will replace. Back in October, we reported that Nvidia was working on a GeForce RTX 3050 model that would come with 6GB of video memory and lower specs along with a lower price point. Now it seems that there is more information about the specifications of this special SKU on the Chinese Board Forum.
According to relevant information, the new NVIDIA GeForceRTX3050 GPU will be based on GA107-325-KxSKU and use PG173SKU16PCB. The GPU will be configured with 2,048 cores, which is a 20% reduction compared to the 8GB model. The core clock frequency will remain at 1470MHz, which is 17% lower than the 8GB model. In terms of video memory, we see 6GBVRAM and a 96-bit bus interface, which is also reduced compared to the 8GBVRAM and 128-bit bus interface of the original model.
The reduction in specifications will result in some models no longer requiring external power supply, and the overall power consumption will also decrease slightly. It is expected that the power consumption of this model will mostly be between 70 and 100 watts, and will continue to retain the quad display output function, including three DP and one HDMI output.
It looks like Nvidia wants to offer something for entry-level users since they get next to nothing with the RTX40 series. This graphics card is likely to be priced under $200 and will compete with products such as the RX6600 and ArcA580/A750 GPUs. It is reported that NVIDIA GeForce RTX30508GB graphics card will be discontinued, and 6GB graphics card will continue to maintain its entry-level positioning until it is eventually replaced by new products.
RTX30506GB is expected to be available in January 2024.
