The WeChat Security Center recently issued a reminder that according to user complaints,Some criminals publish "chatting recruitment" information on external platforms, organize so-called "chatting tool people", and actively add WeChat friends on the pretext of finding pets, scratching vehicles, going on blind dates, etc., and then use the excuse of "adding friends by mistake" to start conversations.
Subsequently, the criminals will gradually guide the "chat agent" to continue chatting with potential victims, and induce the other party to download designated external apps, and then carry out various types of fraud including false cross-border e-commerce investments, dating scams, and rental scams.
The WeChat Security Center emphasizes that users should not take any chances and participate in any form of help information cybercrime activities. Once the above behavior is verified,The platform will, in accordance with relevant national laws and regulations and the "Tencent WeChat Software License and Service Agreement" and "WeChat Personal Account Usage Specifications" and other rules, impose stepped penalties on relevant accounts depending on the severity of the violation; repeated violators will face permanent login restrictions. The platform will also collect relevant evidence and clues and cooperate with law enforcement and judicial authorities to carry out follow-up disposal in accordance with the law.
The WeChat Security Center pointed out that "Chat Agents" are actually traps set by black and gray Internet industries to avoid supervision and use the identities of ordinary users to commit crimes. If a user knows that the other party is engaged in illegal crimes and still participates in "chatting on behalf of others" according to his instructions, this constitutes intentional assistance and requires corresponding legal liability.
If such violations are discovered on the WeChat platform, users can lodge a complaint through the WeChat client or "Tencent Guardian", and the WeChat Security Center will handle it in a timely manner after verifying the materials.At the same time, users are reminded to pay attention to protecting personal information, be careful when adding unknown friends, do not believe in "adding friends by mistake" and other tactics, refuse to download external apps from unknown sources, and effectively protect the safety of personal property.
