Bear attacks and fatalities have occurred in many places in Japan, resulting in many casualties. On the 6th local time, the Japanese National Police Agency announced,It was decided to relax the always strict gun management regulations and take heavy measures to control "bear damage", allowing riot police to use rifles to shoot bears that threaten human safety. The new regulations will come into effect on the 13th (next Thursday).

From April 1 to November 5, 13 people in Japan were killed after being attacked by bears, more than double the number for the entire previous fiscal year.

Japanese media previously reported thatThe handguns equipped by ordinary police in various places have insufficient lethality and are of little use against bears.

Since the beginning of this year, the number of reports of bear sightings and bear attacks on people has been increasing across Japan. In particular, the scope of its activities has gradually expanded to human settlements such as cities and residential areas. The area is not limited to Tohoku Honshu and Hokkaido. People have been injured by bear attacks in Kanagawa Prefecture near Tokyo and even the Kansai region.

Researchers point out that the number of bears in Japan has gradually increased in recent years, partly due to climate warming.

On the other hand, the population in Japan's rural areas is shrinking, coupled with the increase in abandoned farmland, the boundaries between forests and human settlements are gradually blurring, which has strengthened the "bear bile" and caused them to leave their original habitats and appear more frequently in human settlements for food, leading to more human-bear conflicts.
