The iOS 17.3 beta version released by Apple today once again adds support for Apple Music collaborative playlists, allowing Apple Music users to create playlists with friends, family, and others with the same music taste. Apple originally announced the collaborative playlist feature with the release of iOS 17, but the option didn't appear at launch. Apple then tested it in iOS 17.2, but ultimately removed the collaboration feature in the fourth beta.

In Apple Music, when you create a new playlist or select an existing playlist, a small human-shaped icon will appear. Click it to enable collaboration. Once you select this option, a link will be provided where anyone can contribute songs.

Users who start a collaboration have the option to approve people who ask to add songs, but this is not enabled by default. Anyone with a link to the playlist can add music, but the owner can turn off collaboration or remove others at any time.

Apple said earlier this week that collaborative Apple Music playlists will launch in 2024, which coincides with our expected launch of iOS 17.3.
