According to people familiar with the matter, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently met with top investors in the Middle East to raise funds for a new round of financing, which may total at least US$50 billion. People familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity because the information has not yet been made public, said Altman recently visited the region and negotiated with investors such as some of Abu Dhabi’s major state-backed funds.

People familiar with the matter said that the developer of ChatGPT plans to raise US$50 billion or more in this round of financing, corresponding to a company valuation of approximately US$750 billion to US$830 billion. Negotiations are still at an early stage and the size of the financing may change. Bloomberg News previously reported that OpenAI has recently been negotiating with Amazon and plans to raise at least US$10 billion.
OpenAI declined to comment. Media previously reported that the company had discussed raising tens of billions of dollars at a valuation of $750 billion.
